Holiday Schedule

M/I Homes follows a holiday schedule issued annually. The holidays observed typically include the following:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Day after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Observance

For most employees, half of the awarded PTO days are considered earned on January 1st and the remaining half are earned on July 1st. For designated Construction employees (Managers level and below), one half of PTO days are considered earned on April 1st and the remaining are earned on October 1st. PTO should be scheduled in advance and approved by your manager except in cases of illness or emergency. PTO does not carry over from one year to the next. PTO pay for salaried and hourly employees is computed at the regular base salary or hourly rate.

Holiday Pay

Full-time employees are eligible for holiday pay. During a holiday workweek, overtime is calculated after 40 hours of worked time.

Floating Holidays

Floating holidays are added to an employee’s PTO balance as long as the employee was employed as of January 1st that calendar year and are to be used in that same year. These days are intended to provide employees the ability to observe a special or religious holiday that is otherwise not covered in our holiday calendar. The number of days may vary but is typically 2 days per year.
